One week to go!

Everyone asks me "Are you all set?" , "Are you ready?". I don't have too much to "get ready" as opposed to all our Canadian athletes who must be feeling the presure coming on. If they're ready, we're ready.
I am looking forward to getting things organized. First task: get settled in next Thursday and unpack every crate to get the Canadian Medical Clinic set up. We need to be ready for business. The last thing we want is athletes coming in requesting treatments and we still look like Christmas morning with boxes everywhere. The more organized we are, the smoother everything else goes.
I am starting my "do not forget" list so I don't show up in Vancouver with important things missing. Clothing will not be an issue as our generous sponsor, HBC, provides us with a terrific clothing package. Hopefully everything fits as we will be wearing the designated clothing for the month. It's the uniform all Team Canada members will be wearing.

Hoping for snow in Vancouver,

Richard

Warming Up

Time is getting pretty close......and my "to-do-list" is getting longer instead of shorter. By starting this blog, I have now ticked one item off the list: "starting my blog" of course. I had a lot of fun writing a blog during my time in Beijing as the Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Paralympic Team in 2008. I received notes from readers including friends, colleagues and even a Grade 2 class in Barrie (Ontario) where I live and work.
As I will be part of the Canadian Olympic Health and Science team in Vancouver in a few weeks, I will start blogging again. I will try and bring to the readers some insight of life in the Olympic Village, the atmosphere of the Olympic experience and seek fun information that doesn't often end up in the papers that make the Games more personal.
I hope you enjoy reading these pages during the month of February. Please don't hesitate to distribute this address to any contacts. I also enjoy reading your comments as the days roll on.

So from now until February 4th, this will be quiet but I will strive to add a daily page of information as the Games begin. See you then.
